01

What is DietWars?

+
DietWars is an Australian game show in which teams of everyday people compete on rival eating plans - Mediterranean, keto, plant-based, fasting, paleo, DASH and calorie counting - over a twelve week season of weigh-ins and challenges. It is entertainment, made with qualified health professionals in every corner.
02

Is the show on air yet?

+
Not yet. DietWars is an original Australian format in active development. Casting interest is open nationwide so we can start meeting people, and we are in conversation with production and distribution partners. When there is a broadcaster and a date, this site will say so plainly.
03

Who can apply to be a contestant?

+
Australian residents aged 18 or over. No experience is needed and casting is not looking for a particular body type or fitness level. What matters is that you are ready to change your habits, back your camp, and do it in front of the country.
04

Do I get to choose my camp?

+
You can tell us which camp you would fight for and we take that seriously, but the draft is part of the format. Some of the best television comes from someone who swore by one way of eating being handed another one.
05

How is the weigh-in scored?

+
As a percentage of starting body weight, measured the same way for every camp, every week. Percentage scoring means a bigger contestant cannot buy an advantage and a smaller one is not punished for it, and it keeps the target sensible rather than extreme.
06

Is this safe? Weight-loss TV does not have a great record.

+
That history is exactly why the format is built the way it is. Contestants are screened, then guided and monitored by qualified health professionals for the whole season. Goals are healthy and sustainable, not crash numbers. Anyone can step back at any time with no questions asked, and welfare beats ratings whenever the two disagree.
07

Which diet is actually best?

+
There is no single winner for everyone, and anyone who tells you otherwise is usually selling something. Across the research, whole-food patterns like Mediterranean and DASH do consistently well, and the diet you can sustain beats the perfect one you quit. The show is built to demonstrate that rather than hide it.
08

Is anything on this site medical advice?

+
No. Everything here is general information and entertainment, not medical, nutritional or psychological advice, and it is no substitute for personalised care. Speak to your GP or an Accredited Practising Dietitian before changing how you eat, especially if you have a health condition, are pregnant, or are under 18.
09

Do sponsors decide anything?

+
No. No sponsor, supplier or partner can influence a weigh-in, a challenge result, an elimination or the winner, and that is written into every partnership agreement. The show also declines gambling, alcohol, prescription weight-loss medicine and quick-fix categories outright.
10

I think I have an unhealthy relationship with food. What should I do?

+
Please reach out - you deserve support, and it works. In Australia the Butterfly Foundation offers free, confidential help on 1800 33 4673 (1800 ED HOPE), and your GP can connect you with care. A game show is not the right tool for this, and we would rather point you somewhere that genuinely helps.
